Food Access Program

YMCA Food Access Program | Alamance County Community YMCA

At the Alamance County Community YMCA, promoting Healthy Living is central to our mission — and that includes addressing food insecurity in our community.

What began as a healthy snack program for After School students has grown into a full-scale Food Access Program, providing nutritious, warm meals to hundreds of children daily. Thanks to generous private support and grant funding, this program continues to expand — improving lives and strengthening families.

Program Impact:

  • 330 healthy snacks and 330 hot dinners served daily at 7 afterschool locations
  • Goal: Expand to 13 sites and serve over 600 meals per day
  • Projected total of 120,000 meals served by the end of the school year
  • Plan to add 2 additional sites within the next 2 months, reaching 380 meals daily
  • Long-term vision: Launch 2-3 weekend feeding sites in low-income areas

Our Food Access Van and multiple distribution centers ensure these meals reach the children who need them most — fueling their learning, growth, and health.
