Group Swim Lessons

Group Swim Lessons | Alamance County Community YMCA

The goal of our Group Swim Lessons Program is to help individuals build their self-confidence by learning the necessary skills to be safe in and around the water for a lifetime.  Here at the Y, we believe swimming is a life skill as well as a great exercise for all ages.

We provide the best swim lessons, with qualified/trained/fun instructors.

Here’s what you need to know

  • When you arrive for your visit
    • Please do not arrive more than 5 minutes before the start of your class.
    • Please come with only 1 viewer for your visit; the fewer people the better.
    • Please only come to class if your swimmer is 100% healthy. If they are feeling even a little “under the weather,” stay home. If your swimmer or anyone in your house is showing signs of illness, DO NOT COME TO SWIM CLASS.
    • Need assistance? Contact our Swim Lessons Coordinator, Abigail LaCasse (@swim.lessons@acymca.org)

Currently, we have two swim lessons model options:

1. Weekdays Options (Twice Weekly)

  • Weekday lessons meet either on Mondays and Wednesdays or Tuesdays and Thursdays at varying times. These lessons are a great option for families or individuals looking to do a shorter, 4-week session with a total of 8 lesson opportunities. Lessons last 30 minutes.

2. Saturday Lessons (Perpetual Model)

  • Our Saturday lessons are designed to be registered for and paid monthly, essentially a "swim membership." Your swimmer will be graduated to the next level when ready, meaning that once you sign up you will have your spot until you decide to cancel! Lessons last 30 minutes and will be on Saturday mornings. We encourage signing up for a waitlist if spots are not available.
